Overview
To provide exceptionally high quality, technical and high impact investment content to support the European iShares business. The Investment Writer will be responsible for writing and editing marketing and sales material for the iShares European business.
The Investment Writer will work with the Literature manager to create content for all marketing collateral in English. He/she will also work closely with external translation agencies, freelance writers, and other key stakeholders around the business, including compliance.
Working as part of the European iShares Literature Team, the Investment writer will write copy for all marketing collateral from brochures in support of new product launches to regular investment commentary. This role will manage the production of influential and technical copy from concept to delivery. Since 2006, iShares has increased the local focus within Europe and has tailored all its written material in the following countries: France, Germany, Netherlands, UK, Italy and Switzerland. In 2008, the focus will be on creating highly technical content according to our house style and tone of voice guidelines and will see iShares starting to create marketing collateral for Spain and Luxembourg.
Key Responsibilities
• Work closely with the Literature manager and other key stakeholders to create clear and comprehensive briefs for each article.
• Initiate, research, write and edit a variety of literature for web, advertising and direct marketing material
• Liaise with external translation agencies to arrange translation of copy into various languages. The jobholder must know and understand the restrictions within each European country.
• Liaise with compliance and legal teams to ensure statutory compliance
• Ensure all copy conforms to house style and tone of voice guidelines, occasionally working on the look and feel of the document
• Work closely with the sales strategy team, product teams, country marketing managers to ensure that the text is exceptionally well written, and appropriate for the target audience
• Ensure timely execution of all writing projects
• Prioritise all writing initiatives in own role
• Working closely with the Head of Brand and the Literature Manager, maintain the iShares style guide including a translation glossary
• Guardian of the style and tone of voice of all iShares written material, including the iShares internet presence
• Be the main contact for proof reading marketing collateral
• Contribute to forming the iShares Marketing Team and iShares culture
Skills/ Experience required
• Extensive experience in investment writing for international financial institutions
• Excellent understanding of institutional and wealth investment markets, equity, fixed income products especially ETF’s
• Understanding of EMEA regions and requirements from a content point of view and be able to adjust writing style accordingly
• Excellent proofreading skills
• Ability to see all projects from conception through to completion with minimal guidance
• Be a confident self-starter and an excellent team player.
• Able to operate in a fast-paced environment with flexibility in regards to changes in strategy and project plans on a regular basis.
• Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
• Fluency in a second European language would be an advantage.
• The investment writer will monitor performance of products and markets, and, more generally, current investment themes and ideas
• Experience of monitoring and interpreting investment themes and trends is also required
• Honours Degree (or higher) in English (or equivalent) from a top class university
• IMC qualified (preferable)
• Proof reading skills essential
• Good knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Standard, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
