Responsibilities:
Monsanto is seeking an experienced scientist for the Ecotoxicology & Ecological Risk Assessment Team with expertise in hazard and risk assessment as applied to regulated agricultural products.
Major Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for initiation and oversight of ecotoxicology studies according to U.S., OECD, and/or EU regulatory guidelines, and the preparation and review of ecological risk assessments and other documents to support registration of chemical and biotechnology derived plant protection products. The individual must successfully operate in a team environment as well as provide support to internal customers in several functions within Monsanto's Regulatory and Chemicals business units. The job also includes interacting with external scientists in industry, academia and government.
Required Skills:
Candidate should have a Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Ecotoxicology or a related discipline. The position requires demonstrated expertise in ecotoxicological testing and ecological risk assessment. Desirable skills include: knowledge of U.S. (FIFRA) and E.U. (91/414) regulations as related to ecotoxicology, experience monitoring GLP ecotox studies, knowledge of statistics, experimental design, risk assessment, exposure assessment and analytical methodology. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, customer focus, project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to function in a dynamic workplace are necessary. Working knowledge of standard computer software is required; higher level skills including data management and GIS are desirable. This position requires that the individual be self-motivated and capable of functioning as an independent scientist, and also be able to work effectively in a team environment.
