Level Designer - Multiplayer

JOB PURPOSE

The Level Designer – Multiplayer collaborates with art, the single player design team, and programming teams to create challenging experiences in visually appealing, immersive environments for current next-gen AAA video game.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for the design and implementation of Multiplayer maps that are challenging, fun, and balanced for competitive action.

• Collaborating with design team members, design interesting and engaging moment-to-moment gameplay scenarios within the established game design guidelines

• Level design include the development of missions, puzzles and other innovative scenarios that add up to a truly great, high quality gaming experience that meets critical and commercial goals

• Design detailed, 3D levels for the game, including relative locations of terrain, rooms, objects, obstacles and enemies for each gameplay moment, as documented by design guidelines, specifications, research and reference materials

• Develop detailed mission documents that include environment layout, moment-to-moment walkthroughs, objectives, voiceover, in-game cinematics, and special asset, visual and audio effects requests.

• Work closely with art and programming groups through all phases of design, implementation, play testing and QA phases

• Work with Producers to develop schedules and time estimates for tasks, and provide plan for implementation

• Prioritize well and meet dead lines, communicate progress with the Design Director well and frequently

QUALIFICATIONS

• Two years professional game design experience, with demonstrated track record of shipping quality, action/adventure titles. Multiplayer level design, or other competitive online experience, is a must.

• Creative and innovative multi-platform game development experience, with demonstrated ability to ship quality titles under demanding game development schedules

• All-around experience with computer game technologies

• Superior communication skills, including the ability to communicate creative ideas through written materials, sketches, drawings and other illustrations

• Skilled with 3D spatial relationships and design of 3D video games. Experience with 3D architecture and/or 3D modeling is helpful

• Proficient with 3D modeling software Maya or other 3D program

• Ability to quickly master proprietary tools and development processes

• Strong passion for creating immerse, high quality video games

• Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills

• Capable of working both as a member of a team, and individually with minimum supervision
