The Designer / Line Designer is a mid level position requiring moderate mastery of the graphic design field and generally a minimum of two years professional experience.

In this role, you use creative talent and basic product understanding to provide concepts and render artwork for a variety of consumer product applications, including:

*Interprets visual, written & technical design instructions and executes, refines or prepares art for reproduction by working in a wide variety of techniques, styles and subject matters.

*Helps to set creative direction by contributing design and product concepts as well as generating appropriate roughs and/or finished product.

*Maintains and updates personal inspirational design reference
files which stimulate ideas or relate to specific assignments.

*Uses drawing ability and versatility in style and technique to produce visual content for American Greetings.

*Combines strong ability in graphic design with a solid understanding of American Greetings's processes, products,
technology and/or procedures.

*Exhibits sound decision-making, prioritizes work appropriately and requires occasional supervision with design manager to further expand technical expertise, quality and speed, and seeks out opportunities to broaden knowledge and skills beyond the defined expectations of the position.

*Macintosh skills with proficiency in Freehand
and Photoshop Suite and excellent typographical design skills are required.

Technical Competencies Required:
Experience with Adobe Photoshop (minimum 2 years)
Experience with Macromedia Freehand or Adobe Illustrator (minimum 2 years)
Experience with Macromedia Flash (not required, but a plus)
Basic Internet knowledge (including most common web graphic file formats)
PC (windows) operating system (Macintosh OS knowledge is a plus)

Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in BA/BFA in Graphic Design and/or Illustration
