We are looking for the talented engineer who wants to play a key role on Ooyala’s Infrastructure Team. Our customers include global media companies, independent video content producers, and news organizations with a variety of needs related to the integration with Ooyala solutions. This role focuses on design and implementation of innovative systems for massively distributed storage, processing, and delivery of video. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with distributed systems, extensive knowledge of existing solutions in the space, and a willingness to tackle problems at every phase of development.

Responsibilities

• Understand diverse areas such as ad serving, search, and data mining
• Design and deliver building block infrastructure services that are robust, highly optimized, flexible and highly scalable
• Develop strong relationships with various engineering and operations teams, incorporate their feedback and consistently deliver infrastructure services that are widely adopted and used by various teams
• Contribute to design and development of mechanisms for effective performance analysis, monitoring, alerting, root cause analysis and operation of infrastructure services

Requirements

• BS/MS/PhD in Software Engineering or related discipline
• Excellent C/C++/Java skills, strong scripting skills a plus
• Familiarity with open source projects such as Hadoop and Thrift a major plus
• Experience building, deploying and scaling high availability systems
• Excellent communication skills
• Proven ability to lead large scale projects
